Waypoint 5. The washing channel and the drinking troughs  (Route Map 3)

Going down to the Arroyo de la Fuente del Prado or Fuente Grande and after passing La Puentecilla and leaving Los Colmenares on the left, you reach the upper part of La Canal, a place where people washed their clothes and fetched water for the population when the water was not piped into the houses.

A little further up there were two stone basins (currently used as planters next to the Association and in the Plaza del Empedrado) where the horses drank when they came from the fields to work.

A rock with a very marked cross stratification is striking. Cross stratification is an internal structure due to the sedimentary origin of the rocks and is related to the movement of currents (usually water) and generates structures called Ripples or submarine dunes that are moving thanks to the currents.

RUTA 1 PUNTO 1 Y RUTA 3 PUNTO 18

Punto 1: Las Margas iniciales  (Plano Ruta 1)   (Plano Ruta 3) En este punto se observa la primera unidad blanda de la secuencia sedimentaria que forma DS-2. Esta unidad representa  hasta los primeros estratos que dan cierto resalte al cortejo TST, es decir Transgresivo, asociado a una rápida subida del nivel del mar lo que da una rocas de origen marino relativamente profundo. La primera unidad dura que da un ligero saliente mayor representa la superficie de máxima inundación (MFS). A partir de este nivel la tasa de subida del nivel del mar se desacelera haciendo que se vea compensado por el aporte de sedimentos hasta que inicia el cortejo de alto nivel del mar (HST). Paleontológicamente en esta unidad destacan unos ostreidos de gran tamaño, con una valva inferior muy pesada que le permite estabilizarse en el sustrato. Tras la muerte del organismo suele ser colonizado por esponjas y Serpúlidos. También es frecuente encontrar Ammonites como Prionocycloceras iberiense , Tissotia Sp. ,

ROUTE 3 WAYPOINT 12

Waypoint 12: Arenero (Route 3 Map) Near this point, there is a sand quarry in Utrillas, one of the few places where the surrounding rock can be seen, although in this case the abandonment of the quarry has meant that the quality of the outcrop has been lost. Nevertheless, the sands can be seen in different colours, especially white, yellow and red, depending on the rock that gave rise to them.
